ISTE Island Conversation with US Department of Education's Tim Magner

Okay, it may be a little cheesy, the way I put the file up, but I did spend some time making it more listenable, in the course of which I learned more about Adobe Soundbooth (Ah! Collateral Learning). During last night's ISTE Island get-together focused around the guest appearances of ISTE deputy CEO Leslie Conery and U.S. Dept. of Education Director of the Office of Educational Technology Mark Magner, I was madly messing about with Jing and Adobe Soundbooth to in some wise record the event. I was only moderately successful, and the best issue of my Jing work was some subsequent screengrabs I pulled from iffy .swf files and posted at flickr.

The audio effort was a bit more successful, though I only was successful with the last 18 minutes (it seemed Skype kept grabbing control of the input source from Soundbooth--not playing well with others--until I fixed that by closing Skype) and it took considerable post-production to level out the results into a moderately listenable .mp3. I ended up with a ~18Mb file that I really can't put on my school's server or over at Vanderbilt's, since it's not strictly tied to either work. Since I don't have a server in my coat pocket, I worked a workaround. This stuff is Web 2.0 if it's anything, so I turned to Classroom20.ning.com and my personal page there. I don't seem to be able to manufacture a direct link to the file, but woo-woo I do seem to be able to embed my Classroom20 music player. Just give a listen to the dialog between our own Maggie Marat (Peggy Sheehy) and Tim Magner. It's veryvery interesting, imho. The fact that the music player has several of my hit songs (lol) from my CD, well that's just a perk. Enjoy! Oh, and you can pick up songs or the whole CD (get the download--it's faster and I don't have to replace the stock at the CDBaby warehouse!) at CDBaby or at iTunes.

Whatever. :) Enjoy!
