Just left the IBM/Conference Foundation "What's New Here Forum" conference call, and boy are my ears tired. Held in IBM's Active Worlds Center for Innovation, it featured several very smart and involved guys talking for nearly two hours. Not the best use of the platform, but ever the optimist I'll say it was engaging for me, largely because of the open chat window AW affords and the very active chat going on in it.
The moderator for the event was Sandra Kearney, and featured panelists Brian Nelson, Chuck Hamilton, Paul Skiera, and Jim Gee discussing a number of issues related to "leveraging the 3Dinternet for learning." It was truly interesting. I'm posting a few screengrabs. Those of us who are SL fanatics (did I actually use that term to describe myself?) will feel the interface is clunky, but to tell you the truth, AW was actually my first 3Di experience, where I had a premium account for two years and built myself a nice little mountain valley cabin property, prim by precious prim. It's not so bad. At least with the 100 or so attendees we didn't crash the thing, which might have been virtually (sorry) a sure thing had we met in SL.
I attempted to use Blogger's video upload feature for the first time, tricking it into thinking my little audio snippet is video by first formatting my .mp3 capture as a Quicktime .mov file. No luck there. However, Gcast upload is a happenin' thing. Listen to two of the panelists talking about the demographic in answer to an attendee's question about how do we drive adoption and innovation!
